GANGLIONS ON THE FOOT

Ganglions are small fluid-filled sacs that develop near joints or tendons in the body. They are common on the foot and are often found on the top of the foot or on the inside of the ankle. Ganglions on the foot are usually harmless and do not require treatment, but they can sometimes cause pain or discomfort, especially if they are located in an area that is frequently irritated by shoes or other footwear.

If you have a ganglion on your foot, you may notice a small lump or bump that is soft and movable. The lump may be painful or tender to the touch, or it may cause a feeling of pressure or fullness in the affected area. If the ganglion is located near a nerve, it may also cause tingling or numbness in the foot.

Treatment for ganglions on the foot

In most cases, ganglions on the foot can be managed with conservative treatments such as rest, ice, compression, and elevation. If the ganglion is causing significant pain or discomfort, your doctor may recommend aspiration, which involves draining the fluid from the sac with a needle.

In some cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the ganglion. These factors including treatment options will all be discussed with you in consultation with Dr Singh.
