KNEE CONDITIONS

The knee is the largest joint in the body, carrying almost half of your body weight each time you move. It is made up of bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments and these components, in combination enable us to stand, sit, pivot, and walk up and down stairs. With such complexity, the knee is predisposed to several different orthopaedic conditions that can cause pain, disability and interfere with your quality of life.

Knee pain doesn’t discriminate by age or gender, and you don’t need to be an athlete to experience this common ailment. The location and severity of your pain will depend mostly on what’s causing the pain in the first place. These causes are varied, and can range from overuse, a sudden injury, or an underlying medical condition such as osteoarthritis that involves the breaking down of the cartilage in the joint.
