MENISCUS ROOT TEAR REPAIR

A meniscus root tear is a type of injury to the knee joint that can cause pain, swelling, and instability. The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage that provides cushioning and support to the knee joint, and a root tear occurs when the meniscus is torn at its attachment point to the bone.

Meniscus root tear repair is a surgical procedure that is used to repair the torn meniscus and reattach it to the bone. The procedure involves Dr Singh making a small incision in the knee and using specialised instruments to repair the torn meniscus.

There are two main techniques Dr Singh may use for meniscus root tear repair: suture anchor repair and transtibial pullout repair. In the suture anchor repair technique, small anchors are placed into the bone near the site of the tear, and sutures are used to reattach the torn meniscus to the bone. In the transtibial pullout repair technique, a small drill hole is made in the bone near the tear, and a suture is passed through the drill hole and used to pull the meniscus back into place and reattach it to the bone.

After the surgery, the patient may need to wear a knee brace or cast for several weeks to protect the repaired meniscus while it heals. Physical therapy is also an important part of the recovery process, as it helps to improve strength, range of motion, and stability in the knee joint.

The length of recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the injury and the specific procedures performed during the surgery, but most patients are able to return to normal activities within several months after the surgery.

t is important to follow Dr Singh’s rehabilitation program carefully to ensure the best possible outcome from the surgery. The success rate of meniscus root tear repair can vary depending on the size and location of the tear, but many patients experience significant improvement in pain and mobility after the surgery. With proper care and rehabilitation, many patients can return to their pre-injury level of activity.
